Creating a Functional Paper Management System in 3 Easy Steps

Are you drowning in piles of papers on your desk by October? NOW is the time to set up a functional paper management system to keep your desk clear of those pesky piles. Follow these 3 easy tips to get started!

Choose Your Categories

Keep it simple and choose 3 to 4 categories for your paper flow system. The categories will depend on your specific classroom needs and what you teach. I used the following:

-Grade

-File

-Copy

-Extra

Choose a Location for your paper management system

Where will you house your paper flow? On your desk, filing cabinet, rolling cart?

In trays, bins, drawers?

Choose the best method for you and your space. You can always change it up if it doesn’t work after a few weeks.

I really enjoy the popular 10 drawer rolling cart for this purpose. Along with the 4 categories mentioned above, I designated a drawer for each day of the week and kept my copies and reference materials for that day’s lesson.

Check out these bilingual labels created specifically for the 10 drawer rolling cart below⬇️ They come in fun designs, a no prep/print & go PDF option, plus an EDITABLE option with PowerPoint™!

Check & Empty DAILY

Here is the secret: the key to staying on top of paper clutter, is to address it DAILY. Choose 1 or 2 times a day and dedicate 5-10 minutes to the paper flow. This will save you time in the long run and keep your desk free of paper clutter.

And that’s it friends! 3 easy steps to creating an effective paper management system. Hope this was helpful!
